Make the people in the image the subject. During the lab, edit your 50 images down to the best 10. Color correct, adjust, crop, etc those 10 and export them at 72 ppi and post them on your blog.
Lab Oct 4
Due Oct 9
Extra credit if you photograph someone you don't know.
Using Light and Shadows
For this assignment concentrate on photographing Light and Shadows. The intensity and quality of light is always changing and reacting differently with different subjects. The absence of light, shadows, can change the mood and emotion of an image. Over cast days are not the ideal lighting condition for this assignment.
Lab day: Sept 27
Due date: Oct 2
Your next assignment is "Getting Up Close". Basically I want to you photograph your subjects as close as you can. So if you were photographing a flower, you'd zoom in on it and move as close to it as you can while still being able to focus on it.
Close up photography is called "Macro" photography. Special lenses and filters are made to enable you to get even closer to your subject. You are not required to use these for this assignment.
The closer you are to your subject the more shallow your depth of field will become. Also the longer the focal length of your lens, the more shallow your depth of field will be.
Pick any subject matter to photograph. You should make at least 50 exposures. During the lab day, you will edit your collection to your 10 best, export them from Lightroom and post them on your blog.
All images should be color corrected, white balanced, cropped (if desired), and adjusted correctly in Adobe Lightroom.
You will be graded on:
Lab Day: Thurs Sept 20
Due Date: Tues Sept 25

Extra credit if you go
Using what you’ve learned so far, and with your digital camera go on a “Photowalk”. Basically you’ll go for a walk (plan on taking at least an hour). Photograph your entire trip, but only photograph thing that “catch your eye”, or that are interesting, unique, inspiring, unusual, etc. BE CREATIVE. At the end of your walk you should have 50+ photographs. During in-class lab time you’ll edit your images down to 10 that should all be color corrected, cropped (if needed), spots removed, resized then posted to your blog. Name the title of this blog entry “Photowalk Assignment”
You will be graded on the following:
Take at least 50 Photographs, post 10 to your blog
Thursday Sept 13 will be a Lab day to work on them in class
Due Date and class critique will be on Tues Sept 18th
Using your digital camera, take at least 20 photographs, bring the digital files in to class Tuesday. As far as subject matter... it's up to you.
We will start playing in Lightroom and we need images to work with, so bring them in on a jump-drive or other portable media device. I'm not sure if we have a card reader here at the school, so plan accordingly.
